Tom Patterson
The belief that the earth should be left better for our forthcoming generations is paramount for the Patterson family. As such, Tom was inspired by the legacy and vision of his father, William Patterson (1935 - 2020), who passed along a love of land and wild habitat. In addition to his experiences growing up ranching and farming in Grand Junction, CO, he brings a thirst for knowledge and science to his stewardship of P Bar Ranch.
Kristi Patterson
Kristi founded Hay Mama to share something she deeply loves with her friends, family, and surrounding community. She has always taken a profound interest in understanding where food comes from, who produces it, and the impact that it has on the earth. Those principles remain guiding doctrines in her family and farm today. Moreover, Kristi believes firmly that nutritious, environmentally friendly food should be widely available to the general public and takes pride in being a part of that movement.
Roger Hammersmark
Roger is an 18 year member of the Hay Mama team. As a lifelong Montanan, he combines progressive ranching ideas with a hard working cowboy ethic; making him an important part of our crew.
He fondly recalls the reasons this valley will always be home: “I was born and raised on my family’s sheep and cattle ranch on the Yellowstone River not far from the P Bar. I started dating my wife Leah in high school, when she lived on what is now the P Bar Ranch. I have lived and worked in the Boulder Valley for the last 25 years. Our 2 sons, Wyatt and Ty, were raised in this valley as well, and still live nearby. My grandfather came from Norway, and the first place he leased when he got started ranching here is just over the hill on our neighbor’s ranch, where my Dad was born, 87 years ago. Seems we haven’t moved far – we’ve never found a better place to be from.”
Austin Stoltzfus
Austin has ranching roots that run deep. Originally from Colorado, he graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in animal science, and since graduating has relocated to Montana where he’s actively participated in the agricultural industry. Austin is the ranch manager and stockman and oversees the regenerative grazing and holistic management programs on the ranch. He is an active hunter and outdoor enthusiast who participates in most activities that rural Montana has to offer.
Jaimie Stoltzfus
Jaimie was born and raised in Arizona and grew up with a love of horses and animals from a young age. A graduate from Colorado State University, she obtained a degree in Ag Business and Equine Science and moved to Montana after. Alongside her husband Austin, she has lived in Montana for 12 years and helps to run the P Bar Ranch; overseeing the pork operation and managing beef and pork sales for the Montana market.
Jaimie is passionate about raising high quality meat and founded Cowgirl Meat Company to sell pork and beef direct from the ranch to consumers across the US. She is the Fellowship and Sponsorship Director for Art of the Cowgirl, a gathering to celebrate cowgirls and western artists and their contributions to the western lifestyle. Jaimie also has a heart for helping people and offers workshops and retreats through her equine coaching business, Spurring Change. You will usually find Jaimie with her two young kids alongside her “learning the ropes”, enjoying the lifestyle they love.
